Consultation for Therapists
For over thirty five years, I have been trained and I have practiced in many modalities working with individuals and couples. I bring a long history of experience and expertise to my work. I enjoy mentoring and consulting with younger or less experienced therapists who are looking for post graduate training to hone their craft. I offer this teaching and consultation either privately or in group formats.
In terms of individual therapy, I have had years of training in psychodynamic and object relations models, as well as many other modalities, including interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and skill-building approaches, short or longer term, depending on the unique needs of the individual. I also use my Imago and PACT relationship skills with individuals. I have been trained in neurocognitive psychotherapy for Adults with ADHD, as well as intensive psychotherapy for individuals with personality disorders, or chronic self-defeating patterns. As an experienced individual therapist, I have a lot to teach and am happy to help newer therapists develop their own knowledge base.
Couples Therapy is a real specialty, and hard to do well. I believe it takes many years to get grounded in this work. It is natural to have many questions if you have not had any formal training or certifications in Couples Therapy. I have had formal training in Imago, EFT, and PACT over the course of many years. I have Certifications in Imago both as a Therapist as well as a Group and Workshop Presenter for both Individuals and Couples. I am a Certified Level I and Level II PACT Practitioner, and have completed the EFT Trainings of EFT Externship and EFT Core Skills.
For Psychotherapists: Whether you are relatively new to the field, or new to practicing either individual or couples work, you may have questions about your cases, or about the practice of Imago, EFT, PACT Relationship Therapy in general. You may also have more personal questions re: how to deal with the feelings (countertransference) that often may come up in work with clients, and how to logistically manage boundaries and case particulars, whether with individuals or couples.
I enjoy teaching Imago Relationship Theory and Practice. I seek to provide a safe environment for therapists who may wish to enter Imago training or even non-Imago therapists to deepen their knowledge of Imago Therapy and the practice of Couples Therapy in general. I may also teach other concepts of the other two models as well (EFT and PACT). This will help you decide which model feels right for you, and whether you may wish to pursue advanced training, in one of the models, or all three.
Whether you wish for help as an Individual or Couples Therapist, consultation with a more senior clinician will provide you with the support and increased self-confidence to build and expand your skills, and also help you understand more how your personal issues may come into play. I will also teach you some basic Imago skills that will leave you feeling more grounded, with a higher level of comfort in doing your work, in any setting.
If you think you might be interested in professional consultation with me, I invite you to contact me and we can discuss how I might be of assistance. This work has its challenges, but also…so many gifts!
